I was looking on the DOB site here and it appears that there are three open stop work orders on our building (thx to tip from ‘impatient’). It’s a bit confusing – if you search on the DOB site under 415 Leonard it doesn’t mention any issues. However if you search under 80 Bayard – it brings up both addresses – and mentions the open stop work orders. I looked at my Purchase and Sale agreement – and it references Lot: TBD F/K/A 19 & 20 – those numbers line up with the Tax lots for each of those addresses. I guess Aqua takes up both addresses & Tax lots – and will probably be eventually replaced with one new Tax lot number. As ‘impatient’ mentioned – these stop work orders can’t be helping – to say the very least!

This NY Times article – says there are many new condos in NYC whose owners complain that developers have been slow to deliver what they promised. “Anger toward developers is coming to a head as a record number of units are nearing completion. Manhattan will have 6,444 new condominiums completed this year, compared with 1,614 in 2005, according to Halstead Development Marketing. In Brookyln 3,768 units should be finished this year, compared with 480 in 2005.”
The survey website says that “Your participation in this survey will allow the design of the new McCarren Pool to reflect your needs and ideas”.
The ‘OSA’ say that….. ‘Through a formal partnership agreement with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, OSA allows the community to have a voice in the management and maintenance of existing parks- and the creation of new waterfront parks.”
In April 2007 I put down a deposit on an apartment at 407 Leonard st Williamsburg aka Aqua Condominiums. I’m excited about it but bummed about how long its taking for completion of the building and obtaining the certificate of occupancy – the latest estimate I was given was ‘several months’.
I figure there are various other buyers out there who may have more insight into whats happening – and might have news to share about the building /neighborhood etc – so I’ve started this blog for just that.!
Not sure of best way to run this but I guess I’m hoping people will join in here and provide updates news etc as they find things out etc.. I believe you just have to give me your email – and I can then add you as a contributor, then you can post away – I can create ‘categories’ as they become apparent so its easier to sift through stuff .. I think anyone can comment – so please do. Also – you can just add info via ‘comment’s and i’ll create posts of those that are ‘newsworthy’.
This is my first blog so please bear with me – as i might not have it set up so well – but i’m sure i’ll figure it out as I go along – any suggestions are very welcome.
